A very popular destination with young locals, Shiquan Street (十全街) is a street in Gusu District in Central Suzhou, that is worth exploring. The area itself is steeped in history but feels quite youthful and hip. All the internet-famous 网红 shops in Suzhou seem to be congregated on this street and its neighboring side streets.
Union Trading Co. recently opened a swanky new bar here. Other notable spots worth seeking out include Sparrow Coffee, YOLO Bistro, La Cipolla (a Western bakery), Nogawa Coffee, tos (a sandwich shop dedicated to toast), fufu (a small dessert shop selling cakes and mochi), and much more. There are nostaglic little record / dvd shops like Rock Station and 双联音像, various gelato shops, and many good traditional Su-style noodle shops.
The street reminds me of Yongkang Rd (永康路) in neighboring Shanghai, but many, many times longer. Shiquan Street just keeps on going, far beyond YKL’s measly one block. Worth exploring with a group of friends or on your own. If you don’t like crowds, avoid coming here on the weekends or on public holidays.
