At the end of Dashitou Lane in Suzhou’s old town Gusu District is a two-story coffee shop called KUN COFFEE serving very good specialty coffees. The shop has some outdoor seating along Ximei Lane, and is situated at a bustling intersection with electric scooters often darting by.

Upstairs is a cozy lounge area with a small balcony and a nice view overlooking Dashitou Lane. The design of the shop is simple and tasteful with some old-school retro furnishings. It could be a good place to stop in to work on your laptop, or to take a coffee break from an afternoon of exploring the neighboring side streets.

KUN COFFEE have all the basics covered: americanos, flat whites, lattes, mochas, and lattes, but for the more adventurous, the specialty drinks are the ones to get. They serve a buffalo milk dirty – strong, bitter, and a bit creamy with a slightly sour aftertaste – as well as a buffalo milk latte.

They offer an ALL IN set with all three of their specialty coffees for ¥99 RMB. One of their best original recipe drinks is the 皂罗袍 (¥38 RMB), a cold brew coffee made with Kenyan SL28/SL34 beans, with notes of strawberries, raspberries, and rose. If you are a coffee purist, they offer very good hand drip coffees with options for Colombian, Costa Rican, Kenyan, and Ethiopian beans.

KUN COFFEE is a short walk from the popular Shiquan Street, and is located at the end of Dashitou Alley, a historic small alley with a handful of hip boutique shops. The neighborhood itself is worth a leisurely stroll through as you make your way back to the Metro (nearest access is Exit 3 of Leqiao Metro Station on Line 4 or 1).
